If you would like to request an LTI integration with a new 3rd-party application and the MSU Denver Canvas system, please use this form. Note that all 3rd-party integration requests are reviewed to ensure a new integration will protect student data, maintain the security of the MSU Denver digital environment, meet our standards for an accessible learning environment, save students money, and streamline the student learning experience without requiring a large amount of training.

Instructors who wish to use content from a 3rd-party publisher should contact their publisher's representative for specific instructions to set up and integrate with Canvas. Please see "What third-party integrations are available in Canvas?" above for a list of publishers that have already been integrated with Canvas.

As the number of online courses provided at MSU Denver continues to increase, faculty must promote online assessment integrity and deter cheating within their courses. To this end, MSU Denver has integrated ProctorU, an online platform that provides exam-reviewing and proctoring capabilities, within Canvas.

Two versions of ProctorU (detailed below) are available and can be leveraged by instructors as needed/desired. As a general guide, any individual online assessment that makes up more than 25% of a student's grade should utilize one of the ProctorU options. Further use of these tools is at your discretion.

What is the student authentication service (ProctorU Auto)?

ProctorU Auto is a student authentication service that verifies student identity, and also provides exam recordings and machine-based (AI) proctoring reports that faculty can review. ProctorU Auto requires students take photos of their face and ID, answer challenge questions, and enter a biometric keystroke signature to verify their identity prior to taking any exam. ProctorU Auto is encouraged and ideal for lower-stakes assessments.

Note: This service is not compatible with the Canvas "New Quizzes" feature.

How much does the student authentication service (ProctorU Auto) cost? Who pays for this service?

The student authentication service is provided at no cost to students and is paid for by the institution ($5.00 per student per exam administered).

How do I get support if I have questions or need technical assistance with ProctorU Auto?

ProctorU provides direct assistance to both students and instructors for their services, including technical issues and microphone/camera support. If you need assistance using ProctorU, please reach out to their 24/7 support team:

What is the live proctoring service (ProctorU Live+)?

ProctorU Live+ combines student authentication with a live proctor for high-stakes assessments. For any assessment set up with ProctorU Live+, the live proctor conducts student authentication and witnesses the student complete the assessment in real-time. This is a fee-based service paid by each student per assessment, and is provided as an alternative to using the MSU Denver Testing Center for human proctoring of assessments. The University recommends against requiring ProctorU Live+ on more than two assessments per course.

How much does the live proctoring service (ProctorU Live+) cost? Who pays for this service?

Students pay an examination fee directly to ProctorU each time they use the service.

Current ProctorU Live+ Fee schedule
Exam TimeCost
31-60 minutes $17.50
61-120 minutes $25.00
121-180 minutes $33.75
181+ minutes  $42.50

How do I get started setting up a live human-proctored exam with ProctorU Live+?

Please see the "Use ProctorU with Canvas" section of the CTLD's Quizzes/Tests page. ProctorU also provides several knowledge resources for instructors, and can be contacted directly if you have any questions or technical issues (see below).
