Center for Urban Education

CUE promotes the achievement of elementary and secondary education students in high-need urban schools by supporting the preparation and development of effective teachers, out-of-school academic intervention (including after-school and summer school tutoring), college readiness programs, and other partnership initiatives with urban school districts. CUE also facilitates a P-16 student pathway connecting the Denver Public Schools and MSU Denver. As part of the 21st Century College Readiness Center initiative, MSU Denver students who are preparing to teach or perform in other professional service capacities in high-need urban schools are employed as tutors, mentors and enrichment instructors in partner schools, and their professors contribute expertise in program design, instruction, and as instructional coaches to tutors.
