Three Roadrunners planting a tree togetherOnly a few days remain to register for Roadrunners Give Back Day, Metropolitan State University of Denver’s annual day of volunteerism. Volunteer opportunities are available at a wide range of organizations, and those who can’t join in can still help out.

Faculty, staff, administrators and students who would like to participate in the April 11 event can choose from spring cleanup projects with the Center for Visual Arts, Florence Crittenton Services, Girls Inc., Servicios De La Raza and the Greenway Foundation, or work with preschoolers at Denver Public Schools’ Escalante-Bigg Academy. There are even opportunities to help out at the Food Bank of the Rockies.

MSU Denver faculty and staff will be given four hours of release time to participate and also are encouraged to volunteer together to team-build outside the office. Snacks and T-shirts will be provided for all participants. Morning and afternoon shifts are available.

Pick up your Roadrunners Give Back Day T-shirts on Monday and April 9 from 9 a.m.-noon and April 10 from noon-3 p.m. in JSSB Suite 430. Remember, you must be registered to snag the swag!

If you can’t participate in one of this year’s Roadrunners Give Back Day projects, support the MSU Denver community by donating nonperishable food items and female-hygiene products to the Roadrunner Food Pantry. Donations can be dropped off in the Dean of Students office, Tivoli 311, during business hours April 11. The Roadrunner Food Pantry also accepts online donations.
