Help students explore MSU Denver majors
Encourage current and prospective Roadrunners to attend the virtual Major Exploration Week Oct. 12-16.
October 5, 2020
The Metropolitan State University of Denver Exploratory Advising Office will host a virtual Major Exploration Week from Oct. 12-16.
Major Exploration Week is a five-day series of events, workshops and presentations intended to provide all students with the opportunity to explore majors comprehensively and interactively. The event is open to all current and prospective students. Whether they are truly exploratory/undecided, officially declared or somewhere in the middle, all students are welcome and able to take advantage of the opportunity to explore options and opportunities within academic departments. Exploration Week is hosted in collaboration with academic departments and colleges.
“This event is a great opportunity for academic departments to showcase unique aspects of their programs to students who are undecided about their major/minor paths,” said Matt Kring, associate director of Student Support and Retention.
Major Exploration Week will feature presentations from faculty within the Departments of Nutrition; Journalism and Media Production; Communication Studies; Industrial Design; History; Health Professions; Social Work; Advanced Manufacturing; Art, Music, Theatre and Dance; and from the College of Business and the Individualized Degree Program. In addition, exploratory advisors will conduct presentations on decision-making and provide participants with specific tools for exploration.
“We are grateful for the partnership with our faculty colleagues in supporting this event and exploratory students as a whole,” said Nahum Kisner, director of Student Support and Retention. “Exploration Week is just one programmatic strategy in how our Exploratory Advising team and faculty support undeclared students in choosing a major.”
Departments will have a one-hour time slot for presentations, live demonstrations, Q&A sessions with exploratory students or any other activity. All events will be conducted via Microsoft Teams.
